I hand painted this silk scarf (original is sold) titled: Sea horses in a kelp forest. The blue seahorses floating in the seaweed and kelp are just beautiful. They are so peaceful as they float in the sea current and move back and forth with the movement of the kelp. Just beautiful. I think of the sea and the smell of salt water whenever I look at it.

My name is Karla Kay Benjamin. I am an artist that specializes in hand painted silk scarves & wall hangings as well as Dutch Pour/Liquid Acrylic/Abstract Paintings. While I am a native of the PNW, I attended college at Arizona State University and have a BFA with an emphasis in Fiber Arts/Surface Design. I enjoy working on fabric because when the fabric moves it seems to bring the art to life. I enjoy working on silk because of the beautiful way it absorbs the dyes and shimmers when it moves and the light hits it.
