I hand painted this silk wall hanging or scarf (original is sold) of one of the Seattle Ferries with the space needle and the moon and the mountains in the background. The image of a ferry is so iconic to Seattle and the Pacific Northwest. The reflections on the water. I can hear the water lapping against the sides of the ferry. Just beautiful.

My name is Karla Kay Benjamin. I am an artist that specializes in hand painted silk scarves & wall hangings as well as Dutch Pour/Liquid Acrylic/Abstract Paintings. While I am a native of the PNW, I attended college at Arizona State University and have a BFA with an emphasis in Fiber Arts/Surface Design. I enjoy working on fabric because when the fabric moves it seems to bring the art to life. I enjoy working on silk because of the beautiful way it absorbs the dyes and shimmers when it moves and the light hits it. I enjoy the freedom and the color mixtures you get with Dutch Pour/Liquid Acrylic/Abstract Paintings. You will see both nature and animal themes in my work.
